AMP pages make your site load faster in web browser. If you are using AMP for WordPress plugin then you might come accross an AMP issue in search console that looks something like :

Amp search console error

AMP search console error : “Error in required structured data elements” .

This is not actually an AMP error . This is just a warning from Google search console that your page is missing some required AMP elements.

This doesn’t prevent your AMP pages from indexing.
Your page may still be available in search results with basic enhancement even if you ignore this warning .

But your page won’t qualify for AMP reach search result.

What is AMP with structured data?

From the official AMP manual :

AMP with structured data:

  • AMP pages with structured data can appear in the Top stories carousel, host carousel of rich results, Visual stories, and rich results in mobile Search results.
These results can include images, page logos, and other interesting search result features.

Non-AMP web page with structured data:

  • Non-AMP pages that include Article structured data can help Google understand more about the web page and show better headline text, images, and date published for the article in Article rich results.

How to fix AMP warning error in structured data element?

You get this warning most often when your AMP page doesn’t contain all required elements.
A valid AMP page wether its type is Article or Webpage contains at least one image element.
If you are getting this warning in search console then the main reason could be that your AMP page has no image element in body. This element is required by Google to make the page available in rich search
You can fix this error by adding an image to your WordPress post body.

This worked for me when I was having the same issue . I read the official documentation and felt that the problem was with my Articles having no image elements.
To fix this I updated all of those posted and added at least one image to the body of each post.

Another reason for this amp warning might be the “Schema” Post type .
If you are using Yoast SEO plugin you will need to choose the post type for each of your WordPress posts.

The default post type on Yoast plugin is Webpage Article .
You need to select the type manually.
AMP page schema

If you are going to write a WordPress article you will need to select WebPage => Article manually.

These two fixes should solve your AMP search console warnings.
